OK, so years before I ever started shooting commercially I used to shoot flowers a lot. I'm a big fan of the abstract expressionist painters and always wanted my flower photos to lean toward the abstract. I have not shot any flowers in a few years and have not thought much about it until a couple of weeks ago. I got a call from an Art Director who knows of my flowers, they wanted to see my book but also wanted me to send some of the flower photos as they are not in my book. This was exciting to me. Sometimes I think shooting flowers can be a bit cliche but this has inspired me to start shooting them again and spring is in the air. I believe I was getting closer to the abstract images I wanted but still have a long way to go. Here are a few shots from a couple of years ago. As I start exploring this idea again I will post what I hope to be an interesting and evolving body of.... flowers.
